ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT

The Animal Liberation Front brought the raid and the open door into American animal politics — masked volunteers carrying beagles and monkeys out of laboratories, and with them the videotapes that changed what the public knew about vivisection. Congress answered with laws written for the movement — the Animal Enterprise Protection Act and its harsher successor the AETA — under which the SHAC 7 were imprisoned for running a website. The events below trace the ALF's American history and its prisoners.
