BROWN BERETS

The Brown Berets were the shock troops of the Chicano movement — East Los Angeles youth who organized against police brutality and a war that was killing barrio soldiers at twice their share, and who were answered with conspiracy indictments for organizing high-school walkouts, infiltration by police provocateurs, and the violence that killed Rubén Salazar at the Chicano Moratorium.
