The Oceti Sakowin camp's stand against the Dakota Access Pipeline met a militarized coalition of law enforcement and TigerSwan, the private security firm hired by pipeline builder Energy Transfer. Hundreds of water protectors were arrested, including Red Fawn Fallis; Jessica Reznicek and Ruby Montoya, who sabotaged the pipeline, were charged federally — and Reznicek was sentenced under a domestic-terrorism enhancement in 2021.
