BLACK LIBERATION
From the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army through the New Afrikan Independence Movement, MOVE, and the contemporary Movement for Black Lives, Black liberation organizing in the United States has produced more long-term political prisoners than any other movement. Many entered prison as the direct target of the FBI's COINTELPRO program (1956–1971), and several remain incarcerated today on convictions shaped by that program.
