Biography
Jesse Shackelford is a prison abolitionist and a CUNY law student who, after the 2020 Uprisings, was called to serve upon a grand jury meant to persecute those involved with the Black liberation struggle and uprisings in Madison. Joining a long history of grand jury resisters, Shackelford claimed his Fifth Amendment right to silence. He was charged with civil contempt.
Shackelford was released from custody August 24, 2020.
