Biography

Rosa Parks was the Montgomery seamstress and NAACP secretary whose arrest on December 1, 1955 for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man sparked the Montgomery bus boycott. Convicted and fined under the segregation ordinance, she was then re-arrested in the February 1956 roundup of boycott leaders indicted under the state anti-boycott law.
