Biography
The Rev. C. K. Steele was the Tallahassee NAACP president and leader of the Inter-Civic Council, which ran the Tallahassee bus boycott. In 1956 he was one of 21 Black men convicted of operating an 'illegal transportation system' — the boycott car pool — each given a 60-day suspended sentence and a $500 fine, with the convictions on appeal.
