Biography

William E. Lincoln, an English-born Oberlin student, was one of the twenty men jailed for the 1858 Oberlin–Wellington Rescue of the freedom-seeker John Price. Before the April mass imprisonment he had already been arrested at Dublin, Ohio on January 14, 1859 and held overnight in the Columbus jail. He was then confined from April 15 until the general release on July 6, 1859.
