Biography

Matthew Gillett, an elderly Wellington, Ohio farmer, was one of the twenty men committed to the Cuyahoga County Jail for the 1858 Oberlin–Wellington Rescue of the freedom-seeker John Price. The court allowed the aged Gillett to leave about May 14, 1859.
