Biography

James M. Fitch, an Oberlin, Ohio bookseller and Sabbath-school superintendent, was one of the twenty men jailed for the 1858 Oberlin–Wellington Rescue of the freedom-seeker John Price. He remained in the Cuyahoga County Jail from April 15 until the general release on July 6, 1859.
