Biography

Luis Rosa emerged as a young organizer in Chicago’s Puerto Rican community, becoming active in student politics and community campaigns. His activism included organizing around issues such as police brutality and participating in Puerto Rican cultural and civic initiatives.

Rosa was arrested on April 4, 1980, in Evanston and later convicted of seditious conspiracy and related federal charges connected to the FALN, receiving a 75-year sentence. As with others in this group of prosecutions, the convictions were not for carrying out bombings that caused deaths or injuries. He was released on September 10, 1999, after conditional clemency.
