Biography

James Wheatley Corporal of the 24th Infantry Regiment. Cpl. James Wheatley was hanged with twelve fellow 24th Infantry soldiers at sunrise on December 11, 1917, after the largest court-martial in U.S. military history convicted him of mutiny and murder. Conviction formally set aside by U.S. Army November 2023 (posthumous).
