Biography
Warren Kimbro was the New Haven Black Panther in whose apartment Alex Rackley was held, and who fired the first shot in Rackley's killing on the order of George Sams. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and testified for the state, receiving a mandatory life sentence of which he served about four years. Granted educational parole in 1972, he earned a master's degree at Harvard and spent decades running a New Haven nonprofit helping formerly incarcerated people; a New Haven reentry program is named in his honor. He died in 2009.
