Biography
George Edwards was one of the two men (with Warren Kimbro) among the New Haven Black Panthers arrested in the city in May 1969 in connection with the Alex Rackley murder, part of the group prosecuted as the "New Haven Nine." He was held awaiting trial; contemporaneous accounts described his alleged role in the events as limited. His prosecution formed part of the broad sweep of New Haven Panthers whose detention fueled the national "Free Bobby, Free Ericka" campaign.
