Biography
Joseph Dimow was a Connecticut Communist who held local party offices in the late 1940s and served on the party's state committee in 1953–54. He was one of the New Haven Smith Act defendants indicted and tried in 1954 during the McCarthy era for conspiring to advocate the overthrow of the U.S. government; the convictions were reversed by the Second Circuit in United States v. Silverman (1957).
