Biography

Alfred Marder, a New Haven printer, was one of the Connecticut Communists indicted in the New Haven Smith Act case. After the first indictment was dismissed for an improperly drawn jury in February 1955, the group was re-indicted on March 4, 1955; the convictions were later reversed by the Second Circuit in United States v. Silverman (1957).
