Biography

James Tate, a Connecticut sidewalk contractor, was one of the New Haven Smith Act defendants re-indicted on March 4, 1955 after the original indictment was dismissed over an improperly drawn jury. The group's convictions were later reversed by the Second Circuit in United States v. Silverman (1957).
