Biography

A Roman Catholic priest (Fr. John Pietra, age 33), he was one of the fifteen who burned some 40,000 Chicago draft records on May 25, 1969. He was indicted on four federal counts (destruction of government property, mutilation of records, interfering with the Selective Service System, and conspiracy) and was among those convicted in June 1970, with sentences running up to two years.
