Teamsters organizer who led the 1938-41 over-the-road truck driver organizing drives bringing a quarter-million Midwestern drivers into the union. Trotskyist under the Dunne brothers and Carl Skoglund. SWP National Secretary after Cannon; SWP presidential candidate in 1948, 1952, 1956, and 1960. 16 months at FCI Sandstone.
