Victor Rodriguez was one of the five anti-fascist Spanish sailors who deserted a Franco warship and claimed political asylum in the United States in July 1957. The U.S. held them for return to Spain under a 1902 treaty; their case, likened to the seizure of Morton Sobell from Mexico, was fought on appeal.
