Biography

Mexican-American youth and one of twelve defendants convicted in the January 1943 Sleepy Lagoon murder trial after the August 1942 death of José Díaz in Los Angeles County. Convicted of second-degree murder by an all-white jury. The convictions were reversed by the California District Court of Appeal in October 1944.
