Biography
Festus Lewis Coleman was a young Black San Franciscan arrested in April 1941 and convicted on robbery and assault charges that the International Labor Defense denounced as a political frame-up, promoting his cause as a 'California Scottsboro case.' The ILD named him among its 'new labor and political prisoners' in its December 1941 drive; he was imprisoned in California.
