Biography
Mexican-American defendant whose surname gave its name to the appellate decision that overturned the Sleepy Lagoon convictions, People v. Zammora (1944). Convicted in January 1943 of second-degree murder in the August 1942 death of José Díaz at a Los Angeles County reservoir. Released after the California District Court of Appeal reversed all convictions in October 1944.
