Biography

Leonard Doherty was a marine worker arrested on a needle-trades picket line in Boston in 1930 and held in the Suffolk County Jail, where authorities sought to deport him to Canada and, the ILD charged, cooperate with Canadian police to frame him on a murder charge. The ILD campaigned to "save Leonard Doherty from sentence to death on a frame-up murder charge."
