Biography
J. D. Conovaloff was one of six Molokan absolutists from the Glendale, Arizona community — Russian sectarian pacifists — who refused to register or serve under the 1917 draft. Routed through Fort Huachuca and the Fort Riley Disciplinary Barracks, he was court-martialed and sent to Fort Leavenworth under a twenty-five-year sentence, and was amnestied by President Wilson in April 1919.
