Biography

Trotskyist editor and theoretician. Edited the SWP's newspaper The Militant and its theoretical journal Fourth International from 1940. His book "Revolution and Counter-Revolution in Spain" (1938) is a classic Trotskyist analysis of the Spanish Civil War. After his Smith Act sentence, expelled from SWP 1946. Later became VP at Schocken Books.
