Biography
Ellie Melvin Brett was implicated in a series of arson incidents in metro Atlanta during 2020, including the burning of multiple United States Postal Service vehicles outside a post office. He ultimately pleaded guilty in federal court to a conspiracy charge connected to those fires and was sentenced to a five-year prison term followed by supervised release, with an order to pay restitution. The incidents drew attention because investigators treated them as politically motivated property attacks occurring amid a volatile election year and widespread unrest.
