Biography
Brent Barksdale was a teacher at the Highlander Folk School, arrested in the July 31, 1959 police raid on the interracial Monteagle, Tennessee school and charged with drunkenness and resisting arrest — pretext charges in a campaign to shut down a center long attacked as a hotbed of 'integration and communism.'
