Biography

Virgil Hutton was an active National Miners' Union member, his head split open in the arrest, arrested for the Christmas Day 1931 shooting of Deputy Sheriff Virgil Sizemore while distributing leaflets calling a general strike, and charged with murder in the Harlan–Bell County, Kentucky coal war.
