Margaret Fontaine

Margaret Fontaine was arrested near the office though no evidence was shown against her, jailed in the 4 January 1932 raid on the National Miners' Union headquarters at Pineville, Kentucky and charged with criminal syndicalism. On 4 January 1932 Kentucky officers raided the National Miners' Union Southern District headquarters at Pineville, in Bell County, and jailed the staff on criminal-syndicalism charges during the Harlan–Bell coal strike; each faced twenty-one years. Held in the Pineville jail and later moved to Harlan, they were freed after a national ILD campaign.
