Biography

Tyre Wayne Means Jr. is a man who, during BLM protests in Seattle on May 30, 2020, helped set fire to a Seattle Police Department patrol car by lighting a paper towel and throwing it into the vehicle, then removed an assault-style rifle from another damaged police car. At sentencing he told the judge "the days of just rolling over to police brutality are over" and stated "I have no regrets." He was sentenced on June 11, 2021 by U.S. District Judge Richard Jones in the Western District of Washington to 60 months (5 years) — the mandatory minimum sentence for theft of a firearm during a crime of violence. He was incarcerated at USP Victorville in Adelanto, California and released in August 2025.
