Biography
Jacob Greenburg is a Washington state activist who was convicted for his participation in black bloc activities during anti-police brutality protests in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood near the former CHOP/CHAZ zone in September 2020. He struck Seattle police officer Jose Jimenez in the head with a metal baseball bat — the officer was saved by his bicycle helmet — and helped light and throw Molotov cocktails targeting the Seattle Police Department East Precinct. The bat attack was captured on video and went viral. He was sentenced in March 2022 to 60 months (5 years) in Washington state prison plus 18 months community custody. His stepmother is former Washington State Democratic legislator Laura Ruderman.
Washington's Department of Corrections incarcerated-persons search no longer lists him, consistent with completion of the 60-month sentence (imposed March 2022, with jail credit and earned release time) around 2025; the exact release date is undocumented.
