Biography
Thomas Raley refused to answer questions before the Ohio Un-American Activities Commission and was convicted of contempt. His appeal, joined with those of his co-defendants, became the landmark Raley v. Ohio (1959), in which the Supreme Court overturned the convictions because the commission had misled the witnesses about their right to remain silent.
