Biography

Roberto Rivera was an E.R hospital doctor who after becoming inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement began stockpiling chemicals which he planned to use to vandalize and destroy the Wall Street Bull statue as an act of nonviolent protest. Police became aware he had purchased a large amount of chemicals and raided his home, arresting him for possessing items capable of being used to create explosives. Rivera admitted to his plan though maintains he had changed his mind about intending to go through with it. Despite this he was convicted on charges of possessing explosives and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He died in custody of COVID-19 on April 22, 2020, aged 68.
