Biography
Douglas L. Wright was an activist associated with the Occupy Cleveland movement who was arrested on April 30, 2012 following a federal sting operation related to an alleged plan to damage the Brecksville-Northfield High Level Bridge in Ohio. Wright was charged with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, and malicious attempt to destroy property used in interstate commerce. Federal prosecutors characterized the case as part of national security enforcement, while critics described it as an instance of FBI entrapment, citing the prominent role of an undercover informant in proposing and facilitating the alleged plot. Wright was convicted in federal court and sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment.
