Biography

Robert Gillmore was the New York secretary of the American Friends Service Committee and chairman of the local Committee for Non-Violent Action, one of nine demonstrators arrested in May 1958 for refusing to take shelter during a compulsory civil-defense air-raid drill — a protest against nuclear-war preparations.
