Biography
David McReynolds, editor of the pacifist magazine Liberation and later a leading figure in the War Resisters League, was among those arrested in New York City in April 1959 for refusing to take shelter during the compulsory civil-defense drill, invoking the Nuremberg principles in his protest against nuclear-war preparations.
