Biography

A cabinetmaker who was one of five men who publicly burned their draft cards at Union Square, New York City, on November 6, 1965. He was convicted for the act; the resulting appeal, United States v. Edelman (2d Cir. 1967), bears his name, and he was sentenced to six months in prison.
