Biography
Peter Harisiades was a Greek-born, long-resident American Communist and labor journalist ordered deported under the McCarran Internal Security Act for his past Party membership, facing what supporters warned was near-certain death if returned to Greece. His became the lead test case, Harisiades v. Shaughnessy (1952), in which the Supreme Court upheld the deportation of long-time residents for former Communist affiliation.
