Biography

Nick Steelik, an IWW organizer from Los Angeles, was arrested on September 19, 1919, for ''willfully" advocating, teaching, aiding and abetting criminal syndicalism by "spoken and written word." He was sentenced to five years in prison and served in San Quentin from April 1920 to June 1922. As in other criminal syndicalism cases, there was "no evidence" of the "consummation of any crime" except the fact that Steelik was an "authorized organizer" of the IWW and "advocated revolution."
