John Golden

Biography

John Golden, an IWW member from Eureka, received a one- to fourteen-year prison sentence, which he served in San Quentin from January 23, 1920, to May 23, 1924. Prison officials, riled by Golden's refusal to "accept the status and tasks of a convict" because he considered himself a "political prisoner who had committed no crime, " punished him by keeping him in solitary confinement for over a year until he physically collapsed.
