Tom Connors

Tom Connors, an IWW officer, served a prison sentence in San Quentin from June 2, 1925, to Februaiy 1927. Connors was secretary of the IWW General Defense Committee in California. During his criminal syndicalism trial in Maryville, a prospective juror obtained a copy of literature printed by the General Defense Committee. The state of California dropped the criminal syndicalism charge against Connors and tried him for "corruptly attempting to influence a juror." Connors went through three trials on this charge. The first trial resulted in a hung jury; the second resulted in a conviction that was reversed by an appellate court. At the third trial Connors was found guilty and sentenced to three years of imprisonment.
