Martin Young was a labor organizer (Transport Workers Union and Steelworkers) arrested on October 26, 1951 and held without bail at Ellis Island under the McCarran Act — reportedly the only McCarran detainee so held, and confined among mentally ill inmates — facing deportation for his alleged Communist affiliation.
