Biography

Martin Simich was one of the eight Zeigler, Illinois miners convicted in March 1926 in the "Zeigler frame-up" — his alibi witnesses ignored, as the ILD reported — and sentenced to one to fourteen years. His conviction was set aside and a new trial granted in mid-1926, and he was released on bail awaiting retrial.
