Biography

Marquon Clark is a Black social justice and anti-capitalist activist who firebombed the Madison City-County Building during George Floyd protests on June 24, 2020. He threw projectiles through windows and then threw a lit roll of paper towels through the broken windows, starting a fire in a building occupied by over 250 people, including 182 adults and juveniles held in the county jail above. Community supporters marched demanding his release and he has been described as a Black political prisoner by various solidarity groups. Clark pleaded guilty in January 2021 and was sentenced on June 2, 2021 by U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 7 years in federal prison, to run concurrently with a prior state sentence of 5 years 8 months.
