Biography

Kate Sorensen was an activist with ACT UP/Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Direct Action Group, arrested around August 2, 2000 during the 2000 Republican National Convention protests. She was given an extraordinary $1,000,000 bail. Contemporary reports still described her as jailed several days later; an August 11 update said her bail had been reduced to $100,000 and that supporters expected her release that night or the following day. Estimated custody: about nine to ten days, roughly August 2 to 11 or 12, 2000.
