Biography
John England Morris Jr., who used the alias Larry Jackson, was a member of the New Orleans chapter of the Black Panther Party and its National Committee to Combat Fascism organizing. In the pre-dawn raid of November 26, 1970, about fifty New Orleans police — some disguised as priests and postal workers — stormed the party's office in the Desire housing project; Morris was among the six people arrested, charged with attempted murder and violating the federal firearms act, and held at the Orleans Parish Prison. The federal appellate case arising from the raid identifies him as "John England Morris Jr., a/k/a Larry Jackson," and he — not the RNA teenager who shared the alias — was convicted of possessing an unregistered automatic rifle seized in the raid. Contemporary research also describes the New Orleans "Larry Jackson" as a fugitive wanted in California on attempted-murder charges, a description incompatible with the fifteen-year-old Karim Njabafudi.
