Biography

Joe McCarthy, an organizer and delegate for the Lumber Workers Industrial Union in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was convicted at the mass IWW trial in Chicago, sentenced to five years in prison and fined $30,000. He sewed in the Cook County Jail and Leavenworth Penitentiary from December 1917 to August 1918 and from September 1918 to June 13, 1922.
