Biography
J. M. Danley, a farmer, a self-described "good Christian, " a member of the Working Class Union and a fifteen-year member of the Socialist Party, came from Paragould, Arkansas. Danley was sentenced to ten years in prison. He served in Leavenworth Penitentiary from April 1918 to September 1, 1922. After Danley's arrest his wife died, and his five children (ages nineteen, seventeen, thirteen, nine and five) were "scattered" among friends and forced to survive on charity.
