Biography

Harold Ralston was an Alabama Communist Party organizer and one of six Communists tried on vagrancy charges before Judge Abernathy in the Jefferson County court, Birmingham — part of the city's 1934 campaign to jail radical labor and unemployed organizers under catch-all vagrancy statutes. Jailed around May 1934, he was, after release, targeted with death threats by the Klan-linked White Legion.
